Geeks, developers, designers, data lovers everywhere! It's time for those of us in Manchester who love data and want to see more of it to convene and share ideas.

We're going to be meeting at MDDA, Portland Street on Tuesday 27th April @ 6pm-8pm.

This is our first ever meeting, and whilst the format might not hold steady for future events, for our inaugral meeting the programme looks like this:

6pm-6.30pm Arrival, pre-meeting chat, etc.
6.30pm-6.50pm Paul Robinson will be introducing the Open Data Manchester group, as this is our first meeting. He'll be talking about to expect and giving a high-level overview of what we're planning for the months ahead.
6.50pm-7.10pm Julian Tait from Future Everything will be discussing some of the use cases for open data from across the globe, and highlighting what Future Everything is doing around Open Data in 2010
7.10pm-7.30pm Alan Holding from MDDA will be discussing with us the next generation high-speed fibre network being installed in the Oxford Road area. Whilst not directly an "open data" project, the possibilities for real-time data gathering this project will make feasible in Manchester should get us all thinking.
7.30pm-7.40pm Closing remarks, general Q&A not covered in the sessions, and planning for the next meeting.
7.45pm onwards Drinks in a nearby pub. Want to discuss the talks and ideas you have for open data projects? We'll be heading over to The Paramount (or depending on numbers/how busy the pub is, we may choose another nearby venue).

As this is our first event, we hope you'll join us to make this a great evening and to ensure future events happen in Manchester.

We're also keen to hear about possible speakers for future events - perhaps yourself, or somebody you know - with talks around datasets, technologies, techniques, and hopefully the odd talk about it being used to help individuals and organisations in interesting ways.
